History of Bear Mountain Inn
Construction on Bear Mountain Inn began in 1914 and in 1915 construction was complete on the lodge that included included a restaurant and cafeteria, overnight accommodations, a bakery, laundry facility and, incredibly enough, a soda bottling facility. The Inn was built by employees of the Palisades Interstate Park Commission using all-natural materials including chestnut wood and fieldstone found in the surrounding park.
A Beautiful Setting for an Historical Hotel
Situated at the base of Bear Mountain and overlooking the shores of Hessian Lake, our historic hotel is a centerpiece of a unique park system that stretches from the edge of New York City through the Hudson Valley. As one of the earliest rustic-style lodges built to take advantage of a natural setting, Bear Mountain Inn is a fabulous contemporary of the National Park Lodges. The Inn recently underwent extensive renovations to restore the building to its original rustic splendor and keep its proud place on both the National and New York State Register of Historic Places.
