Overlook Lodge, Stone Cottages and Cliff House Undergo Million Dollar Renovations at Bear Mountain State Park

Bear Mountain, NY(June 2009) -- Guest Services, Inc., a private hospitality company dedicated to excellence in food, hotel, resort and leisure services, is proud to announce the start of the first phase of a three million dollar renovation project planned for the Bear Mountain Inn Complex in Bear Mountain, New York.

In coordination with the Palisades Interstate Park Commission, Guest Services will begin renovations in early July on the Overlook Lodge where guests will be greeted with redesigned bathrooms, enhanced décor including beds, linens, drapes, carpet, light fixtures and an in-room hospitality center featuring a microwave, refrigerator and coffee program. The four Stone Cottages will receive similar renovations in addition to a hospitality center in the cottages’ common area. The Cliff House, a scenic location ideal for small meetings, special events and ceremonies, will receive a refinished dance floor, enhanced décor, and a grander entrance with French doors. In addition, the Overlook Lodge, Stone Cottages and Cliff House will receive exterior repairs and paint. Renovations are expected to be completed by late fall.

“Lodging will still be available during the renovation period,” said General Manager Michael Morris. “Guests can expect minimal disturbances during their visit to the park and should take full advantage of great packages and events planned during the summer and fall months at the park.”

The park has many events planned for the summer including 3rd Thursdays in Park featuring live local bands, classic car shows every Wednesday, fireworks scheduled for June 26th, movies under the stars on July 10th and August 14th and the return of the annual Oktoberfest starting September 26th and 27th.

Thomas Hamilton and Associates developed the architecture and design plans and the renovations will be completed by Fine Restoration. A media visit is planned for Thursday, August 20 and walk-throughs can be scheduled beginning August 1. Rendering are available upon request.

Bear Mountain Inn Complex, managed by Guest Services, Inc., offers a 24-guest rooms at the Overlook Lodge, four stone cottages with six guest rooms in each unit, and over 5,000 square feet of meeting and event space at the Overlook Lodge, Cliff House and Merry-Go-Round Pavilion. Activities for all ages and interests abound onsite with boat rentals, playing fields, picnic groves, swimming pool, nature trails, Trailside Museum and Zoo, Perkins Tower, and Merry-Go-Round.

The historic Bear Mountain Inn is currently undergoing extensive renovation to bring it back to its original splendor. At the completion of the renovations, the Inn will offer 15 luxury suites, spa, fitness center, full-service restaurant and lounge over 20,000 square feet of meeting and catering space, Hiker’s Lounge including a grab-and-go food concept and Hudson Valley Store featuring park memorable and local crafts.
